Why statisticians are not boring-- from Prof. Tishrani list

"On the average, they're a mean bunch!"

"They can appreciate a nice posterior and GAMs"

exciting pickup line: "Wana come to my place and see my bootstrap collection?"

"At parties, they can recite the highlights of the last census"

Not only do statisticians publish in the PNAS (say that slow), shrinkage has been proven to be a good thing, AND have become a common practice.

Statistics, what a hazardous place for men...

Of course, regularization is also a common practice. this IS a good thing for anybody.

Obligatory mention of the existence of distributions in the community with low variance and pdf that is even and bimodal.

On second thoguht... a u-shaped distrubtion can do that.... Probably need to extend distribution ot to infinity, and the best looking ones are locally symmetric...

Maybe I will go study a bit more before making jokes again :(
